Backup and restore indicated both were successful. However, when I try accessing wp-admin of my new domain, I am redirected back to my prev domain admin.

There was a message about permanent links, though not certain what I need to change, if this is the problem.

I been having this error on so many websites, that sometimes i just want to give up on this plugin.

The plugin encountered an error while downloading the zip file, the following error message was returned:
Error Message : Operation timed out after 750000 milliseconds with 143629703 out of 267562499 bytes received

Temporary files created in /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/abc/wp-content/wpclone-temp will be deleted.

I am transferring from bluehost to localhost, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. There is no proper support for the error, just many posts. What seem to be the problem?

Just updated the site to the newest WP version. And updated all plugins. When I click to create a backup the site says it may take a little while to create the backup. After about 30 seconds it loads the dashboard page with the WP Clone option highlighted but there only displays a blank page instead of the usual "Here's where your backup URL is".

Often when the plugin fails or 'times out' before it gives me the backup url I can use the FTP to find the backup but with this problem When I go into the FTP to see if the uploads/wp-clone folder has the backup there is nothing there. I take that to mean that when I hit the backup button it's not even initiating or trying to start the backup.

Any thoughts on this and perhaps what might be causing this total inability to use the plugin?
Thanks

I have an existing WP site that I want to replace and i'm not concerned with keeping it or any of the content.

I've designed a new WP site on a difference domain and i want to clone and move to correct domain (where soon-to-be old site is). I want to use WP Clone to do this.

My question: can i simply "restore URL" for the new site w/in WP Clone in the old site, or do i have to do a fresh install of WP on the domain? Again, i'm not concerned about keep any of the old site content/files/databases...etc. It's total junk!

Many many thanks!

Hi,

all of a sudden, WP Clone won't let me create a backup, giving me the following error message:

Error Message : Unable to create the temporary backup directory, please make sure that PHP has permission to write into the .... Directory.

I've seen someone else had this problem in the forum link below, is there a solution to this?

I get the following error whenever I try to use WP Clone on my new server. The database goes away and the home page of my Wordpress installation is foo/install.php. I haven't lost anything since this is a new site but if I can't get this resolved I'll have to cancel and find other hosting. I've used WP Clone successfully on a few other hosting servers.

Warning: mysql_fetch_array() expects parameter 1 to be resource, boolean given in /home/foo/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-clone-by-wp-academy/lib/functions.php on line 245
The plugin encountered an error while cloning the database, the following error message was returned:
Error Message : MySQL server has gone away

Temporary files created in /home/foo/public_html/wp-content/wpclone-temp will be deleted.

This is the response I got from tech support.

Seems one of the tables doesn't supported by the mysql engines.

foo_wp815.wp1_commentmeta OK
foo_wp815.wp1_comments OK

foo_wp815.wp1_users OK
foo_wp815.wp1_wpclone
note : The storage engine for the table doesn't support repair
root@neptune [~]#
========

You have to remove that table from your mysql database now.

Problem is I don't know how to remove a table, I don't think removing a table will make WP Clone work (maybe I'm wrong) and the other problem is I don't think I should have to hack the database every time I want to clone a site.

I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if so, how to resolve it.

Hi

Just trying out WP Clone and backups from live or local both work. However I cannot restore file as when I try (even a backup from localhost to localhost) WP prompts me for FTP credentials: hostname, FTP Username and FTP password.
I do not know what these are though...
How can I get past this screen to restore the file - everything is local anyway so surely I should be able to do it another way?

Can I find out which ftp user is being used/needed (I am on a Mac using MAMP by the way) and then reset the pw (or add a valid user or change groups/ownership) or something using Terminal?
(I am not sure if it should perhaps be something like www/ _www / mysql and have tried all combinations I could think of but none work - should the user be an Apache/PHP or MySql User?)

Without the ability to restore - WP-Clone is of no use to me unfortunately

Thanks for any help with this

First of all, thanks for this plugin - it's saved me a lot of time (and aggravation).

This is just to report a couple of incompatibilities with plugins. I'm being a bit over-picky here, but it may be useful to update the FAQ.

Firstly, Custom Content Type Manager stores certain path values in the options table, and these aren't reset on migration.
This gave me a php error starting :
PHP Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required ...
... for the plugin's textarea.php definition file
This took two steps to rectify :
1) Delete (not just deactivate) the CCTM plugin, then reinstall it.
2) Export the definitions from the source system. This is in the Admin screen (CCTM->Tools->Export), then import them to the target system.

Secondly, Plugin Organizer lets you set up filters, so that specific plugins are loaded (or omitted) for certain filepaths. If the paths you've setup include the domain, then the source domain is retained; the filter won't match and the plugins will revert to the global settings.
The easy workaround for this is to edit the filters (easy for me, at any rate - I only had 3).

Hi guys I have used wp clone loads of times with no issues at all until today :(
I have an ecommerce test site http://br.chumwebs.com/ with woocommerce on it and its about 300mb+ big, when I used wp clone the standard way it timed out and did not transfer. So after some digging around for other users fixes I followed a manual way that had worked for users. I downloaded the wpclone zipped file the re-uploaded via FTP to the wpclone upload folder of my new production site (www.berylcook.com) and then restored from the backup - which I thought had worked fine - until i put in my admin credentials and the link changed from http://www.berylcook.com to http://br.chumwebs.com/wp-login.php?redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.berylcook.com%2Fwp-admin%2F&reauth=1

has this happened to anyone and can you help if so please?

cheers

I have used WP Clone successfully before but not this time.

After trying the restore from the zip file which I placed on my server, it still timed out. Now I cannot access the site I was restoring to - when I type in the site I was restoring to, it reverts to the site I was restoring from!

The zip file was only about 50MB but timed out.

Yes, I can contact the provider to increase the time out but that doesn't address how to access the site. I could blow away the database and wordpress installation, but that seems rather drastic.

Any solutions out there?

This may be of some use:

I'm trying to upload and restore a site I had built by someone on oDesk. When I hit "restore" from url, it asks me for the login details from the provider who built the site. Is there anyway around this? My provider has jumped ship and is nowhere to be found. I have the url of the zipped file and can't doing anything with it. Any suggestions?

Thanks so much.

All of a sudden I couldn't login today (9/19). Finally got in my disabling Clef. My plan was to disable plugins to find the culprit, but no plugins would deactivate nor would Woocommerce 2.2.4 update.

The database for my site suddenly wouldn't connect with my site. I did a WP Clone backup yesterday, luckily. Tried to restore to that backup and the site is completely down. WP clone backup will not restore.

I'm at a loss. Should a do a fresh install of WordPress and try to restore to one of the several WP Clone backups?

I just downloaded the plugin to make a clone of my site, however I'm not able to make a clone. After about 30 secs I get the following:

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

I am running Wordpress 4.0 and hosting on Godaddy.
Any help or info will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

I am trying to clone my old site on WP 3.1.3 to a fresh one with WP 4.

I successfully backed up the old one, but when I pasted the url in CP Clone on the new site, it gave me the message:

The plugin encountered an error while downloading the zip file, the following error message was returned:
Error Message : couldn't connect to host

Temporary files created in /var/www/html/wordpress/wp-content/wpclone-temp will be deleted.

Both of the sites are hosted on our local server. Is this an issue I need to bring to our tech support or is it a Plugin or WordPress issue?

Thanks!

Hello,

If I create a website (not a theme or template only), and want to transfer/push it over to 10 different domains, would the WP Clone plugin work for that? I'm guessing that the end user (getting the domain) would install WP Clone, and then I would provide him/her a copy of the URL of the backup that WP Clone created on my own server. Is that correct?
